Qualifications:  The Springfield City School District is seeking a Director of Student Services to administer the District's special education programs. The objectives are to promote close working relationship with parents, students, and staff, keeping the Superintendent informed of emerging issues.


The successful candidate must possess:
Valid State of Ohio administrative license/certificate appropriate for the assignment

Master’s Degree in Education or Related Services Field

Demonstrated knowledge of special education law, educational technology, adaptive equipment, augmentative communication devices and community resources appropriate to student service need

Supervisory and/or leadership experience in student services and special education programs

Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

Self Motivated with an ability to operate independently


Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years in an administrative assignment within a school district
Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience

Duties will include but are not limited to:
Manages and oversees student services program components for the purpose of delivering services that conform to Federal, State and District guidelines and regulations.

Plans and provides oversight of support services for students PreK-12 for the purpose of ensuring programs are administered within the policies and procedures of the District.

Collaborates with others to implement and maintain student-focused services; identifying and assessing student needs.

Monitors legislative activities that affect student program services. Recommends policies and administrative procedures ensuring the implementation of mandated requirements. Serves as a legislative consultant to program supervisors and client organizations.

Provides leadership for the improvement of program services; systematically evaluating programs and processes to meet the needs of students; supporting an inclusive educational environment.

Potential for interaction with aggressive, disruptive, and/or unruly individuals

Directors work 234 days per year.
