About the Position

The Educational Management Information System (EMIS) Coordinator will play a critical role in the strategic districtwide planning, analysis, and ongoing reporting of EMIS data to the Ohio Department of Education as required. The EMIS Coordinator will work both independently and collaboratively to prioritize, evaluate, trouble-shoot, and provide complex problem resolutions for the various EMIS reporting periods throughout the school year.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 Ensure that timely, complete, and accurate district data is submitted to the Ohio Department of Education(ODE)

 Interpret EMIS reporting requirements for the school district

 Establish working relationships with co‐workers and function as part of a cohesive team

 Develop and coordinate systems and procedures of efficient data reporting throughout the district regarding staff, special education, testing, student programs, grades, credits, summer school, special circumstances, out-of-district students, career-technical data, etc.

 Extract district data from various data source systems and prepare data files to go to the state

 Investigate and trouble-shoot various resulting error reports

 Communicate various errors/problems to end user schools/departments within the district and help them work through correcting district data for resubmission

 Distribute EMIS reports received from ODE and train staff in the interpretation of EMIS reports

 Communicate to appropriate department personnel regarding EMIS data required and timeline for completion

 Coordinate with other districts and/or community schools during problem investigation/resolution

 Participate in district meetings to review status of EMIS reporting throughout the school year identifying problem areas that needs to be addressed

 Create and maintain a system of accountability for data reporting throughout the school district

 Develop a routine system of data checkpoints and report verification

 Attend EMIS Coordinator meetings, seminars, workshops, conference calls, etc. to maintain accurate knowledge of EMIS requirements as needed

 Maintain the confidently of privileged information

Candidate Requirements:

 High School diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) preferred from a four-year college or university preferred

 At least 3-5 years of data management and leadership experience in a high-performing organization; experience working in a non-profit strongly preferred

 Experience with EMIS preferred

 Track record of successfully meeting or exceeding organizational targets, achieving ambitious goals, and data that shows significant organizational or departmental impact

 Experience in successfully leading projects and programs on-schedule and with a high level of quality and consistency

 Experience in urban education and/or organizations that fight for equity and achievement of our underserved populations
