Athletic Committee
The Athletic Committee of OASSA shall exert efforts to maintain the outstanding athletic programs in the State of Ohio. Inasmuch as OHSAA is basically a principals’ organization to further the cause of ethics in athletics in Ohio, the Athletic Committee is charged to work closely and maintain a close liaison with OHSAA. This effort may further the ties between OHSAA and OASSA in all areas of common concern.
The Chairman of the Athletic Committee shall be the official OASSA advisor to the Commissioner and OASSA.
Functions of the Committee:
1. To promote wholesome athletics in Ohio.
2. To provide liaison with OHSAA in all possible ways.
3. To encourage members to support OHSAA in rules interpretations and other situations.
4. To encourage OASSA members to be candidates for vacancies on district and state athletic boards.
5. To work with OHSAA in legislative concerns.
6. To determine athletic concerns and make suggestions to OHSAA relative to the desires of secondary administrators.
7. To serve as an advisory body to OHSAA in problem areas, rules revisions, and general interscholastic sports.
8. To be continually aware of the differences of emphasis in middle, junior, and senior high school athletics.
9. To work independently of OHSAA in those areas of athletics which may involve only individual schools to provide a balanced program compatible with good educational values.
10. To develop stability in philosophy and operation of interscholastic sports in Ohio.
